Baby Elephant Gender Reveal Party . . . and a New Line of Invitations, YAY!

Whew, I have finally returned from our vacation in Big Bear Lake, California, which has become a November tradition for our family . . . and a fun one at that!  You can never have enough glasses of wine by the roaring fire, yummy homemade dinners, and delicious pancake breakfasts, in my opinion.

And although I am sad to see our little 'winter wonderland' trip come to an end, I am so excited to bring you this new line of 'Baby Elephant' Gender Reveal Invitations, available in the shop and ready to custom order!

And as always, we have provided you with a little inspiration to kick off your party right!  Now first things first, you absolutely MUST make this garland if you plan on having any type of 'Elephant' involved in the theme of your special event . . .

And these would make the most adorable Gender Reveal cakes, don't you think?

Or go ahead and make them cupcakes or cookies instead!

And the sweetest cake topper . . .

You just knew Jonathan Adler would make the perfect salt & pepper shakers for the big day, right?

And these perfect little gifts (also from Jonathan Adler) make the most fabulous gifts for the mom-to-be!  This statue would steal the show in the nursery . . .

Or you could choose the ornament version!

A few other amazing gift ideas . . .

And our new line of gender reveal invitations . . .

These invitations, along with many more designs, are available right now in the Juneberry Lane Etsy Shop and can be tailored to suit whatever kind of event you are throwing . . . from a Gender Reveal, to a Baby Shower, to a Birthday Party, of course!

Don't see the theme you're looking for?  Well, we'll custom design it for you!  And we'll even do your Christmas cards too, if you are in a handy-dandy DIY mood this holiday season!!  Fa la la la la!!!!

Delightful Desserts for Fall: Pipin' Hot Apple Fritter Cupcakes . . .

Now that we are officially into September, school is back in session, and we are about to kick off my favorite time of year, I thought it would be the perfect time to share with you a delicious recipe for fall!  Growing up in Ohio, Autumn was the time to head to MacQueen's Apple Orchard, Cider Mill, & Farm Market for their amazing annual Apple Butter Festival.

I have so many fond memories of picking our own bushels of apples, watching as the cider was made, and most of all-the apple fritters, YUM!  So when I found this recipe for Apple Fritter Cupcakes, well, I just knew I had to share it with you.  Here's how you make them:

Pipin' Hot Apple Fritter Cupcakes

Ingredients:
~  1 cup cake flour
~ 1/4 cup raw sugar
~ 3/4 teaspoon salt
~ 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
~ 1 teaspoon cinnamon
~ 3 tbsp brown sugar
~ 1/3 cup soy creamer (you don't have to use soy, but this is a tad healthier than heavy creamer:)
~ 1 egg
~ 1 cup Pippin apple (or any variety will do, just look for something both tart AND sweet), diced

Glaze Ingredients:
~ 2 cups powdered sugar
~ 1 1/2 tablespoons soy milk (you can use regular milk if you prefer)

Directions:

~ Combine flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, cinnamon.  Stir in creamer and egg  until just combined.  Fold in apple.  Place liners in muffin pan and preheat oven to 350 degrees. Fill liners and bake about 30 minutes.
~ Pour oil into skillet so that it is approximately 1 1/2 deep.  Heat oil to 275 degrees. Carefully add cupcakes to oil and fry until brown- about 2 minutes. Transfer briefly to paper towels to absorb excess oil, then transfer to cooling rack.
~ Make glaze by stirring milk and powdered sugar together in a small bowl.  Drizzle over fritters.
Makes 6- 8.

Stay tuned for more 'Delightful Desserts for Fall' in the weeks ahead!  Have a lovely weekend! Photobucket

Bonus Tutorial: DIY Handmade Paper Cupcake Wrappers...

So to 'wrap' up our week of yummy desserts, here is a special Friday edition tutorial of how to dress up your cupcakes, brought to you by the fantastic & talented Judy from Domestic Goddess Adventures....

Difficulty Level: Easy

Items you will need:

~ cupcake liners
~ double-stick tape
~ scissors
~ decorative papers
Optional:
 ~ decorative scissors
~ stamps/ink pad
~ rhinestones, paper flowers, or other embellishments
~ edge punch

1.)  Carefully disassemble a cupcake liner, taping it down to a sheet of decorative paper to create a pattern/cut-out.

2.) Make sure you draw your "rainbow" shape slightly wider than the disassembled cupcake wrapper!  It may take a bit of trial & error until you find the right "rainbow" shaped pattern that will give you the perfect size cupcake wrapper that you are after.

3.) Now the real fun begins! You can create a ton of different wrappers by tracing and cutting out the "rainbow" design on all sorts of different patterned paper.

You can stamp some...

Embellish a few (use the decorative scissors or an edge punch to create that scalloped look around the top)...

4.) Curve them into shape and adhere them with strong, double-sided tape...

And before you know it, you will have a whole stack of them ready to be filled with cupcakes!

What a wonderful way to spend your weekend!!  Have a great one!!
